Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MOVEMENTALITY?

We specialise in supporting people working through chronic pain and dis-ease management, leveraging our blend of Pilates, Somatic Movement Therapy, and Functional Neurology. All sessions are delivered online unless otherwise advised.

I’VE NEVER DONE PILATES BEFORE - IS THAT OK? HOW DO I START?

Of course it is! Depending on what you’re looking for, we have a couple different starting points. If you’re injured, or looking for something specific, then you start with a private consultation with one of our lead practitioners to decide what your course of action should be.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR FEEL UNWELL?

Ash and Rob both have plenty of experience working with acute and chronic injuries. This is the same with long-term illnesses or conditions. You will be guided to work at a level of load that you can tolerate with the goal of facilitating gentle but consistent change.

If you feel unwell and can not make it to your class or appointment, you need to let us know via phone or email, or better yet cancel yourself out. We have a strict 18 hour cancellation policy for all sessions. Any cancellations inside these time frames will result in the forfeit of your session, until a late cancel fee has been paid.

WHAT IS YOUR LATE CANCEL/NO-SHOW POLICY?

For all sessions, we have a strict 18 hours cancellation policy. Any changes or cancellations within 18 hours of your appointment will forfeit the session until a cancellation fee has been paid of $70 for privates, or $40 for duets. All fees can be paid via bank transfer, by calling the studio, or on your next visit.

I’M PREGNANT - IS IT SAFE TO DO PILATES?

Absolutely! Often, it is highly recommended as it can support your body through the profound changes you are going through. If however you haven’t been doing regular Pilates classes, we won’t allow you to start until the second trimester, to ensure there’s no extra stress on your body until we know that your pregnancy has progressed past 12 weeks. If you have already been doing Pilates, there is no reason to stop. But be sure to inform your practitioner so that they can modify your program to suit your needs.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO PREPARE FOR MY SESSION/CLASS?

The sessions will be delivered online via Zoom unless otherwise organised. This requires you to have access to internet, while also having space to move and clothing to move in.

I’M GOING ON HOLIDAY, HOW DO I PAUSE MY Pack?

Memberships run continuously - as we hold the space for you, we require payment to continue to hold the space for you. If we can come to another arrangement to facilitate unused sessions without impacting payment, then we will do what we can.
